I spent all of my time in the Mekong Delta, but there were a unit of hover craft with us for a short while. I remember one of the crew telling me they spent most of their time in I corps

I was at Aberdeen Proving Grounds in 1967 when they were being tested in the Chesapeake Bay. You could hear them way before you could see them.....

Did you know that Hovercrafts were used for Patrol in Vietnam?

I participated in a two-day mission with the two remaining ACVs in 1969. By then, guard screens had been installed around the bubble fan intake because of an accident. The unit operating the craft was Armored Platoon (Prov)(ACV), 9th Infantry Division.

I have always been fascinated by hovercrafts. I didn't know that they were actually used in warfare. When I was a kid, I used to have a huge GI Joe action figure collection. My favorite vehicle in the collection was the hovercraft. I had no idea that it was modeled after these PACVs.
