As I sit here watching Iraq fall city by city I am reminded of the way we left and the aftermath of Vietnam. Anyone else see it?

Unfortunately, I know very little about the fall of Vietnam after the war (very bad of me, I know). That sad, while Iraq is falling apart it does hurt me. I was in Sicily working when I heard of the American contractors who were left fighting alone without US support. I was having dinner with a group of colleagues and was overcome with depression and had to just get up and walk away (walking the mile or so back to my lodgings). I cried the entire time. If that is how you felt, then yes, it is the same.

Long wars, incompetent senior leadership, lack of public support, disillusioned Veterans.

Yes. Outside of the limited ROE in Iraq, the policies are very similar. No longer do we conduct unlimited war, yet we send sequestered Soldiers to push an untenable policy.
