Commentary: How to 'see' the Black talent you're missing

This is very true... wish we could figure out a way to teach "Life Skills", but most people don't listen anyway, they have to learn for themselves.

In my view, besides a college degree, which provides formalized education, for an employer, we need more and better trade schools with the necessary credentialed proficiency levels for skills like plumbing, electricians, welders, supply chain workers, heavy equipment operators, and a whole host of other skilled jobs... There has to be some degree of worker proficiency and responsibility to achieve talent goals that both the worker and employers need... If there is no worker desire to achieve, then that worker has to settle for whatever jobs they can find... As the saying goes, you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink...and so it is with people... Talent will always float to the top of the work chain, but the lack thereof will always sink to the bottom... Employers seek talent and usually reward that talent when it proves to be a sound investment in human resources...
