Are there waivers available for certain additional duty assignments?

I'm going into a new unit and I want to offer my services as my Army Reserve Unit's Victim's Advocate for SHARP. However, my understanding is I am required to be in E-6 SSG and I'm not. I just feel it would be beneficial for the unit and for the soldiers of the unit because I have personal experience with sexual assault and a lot of the resources available to those that are affected by it.

Anything and everything can be wavered. The real question is, will they invest the time and effort to waiver? No where near the detail in your question to even guess if there is reason to even request a waiver.

MSG Brad Sand unless you're me, in which case the recruiter is telling me that I need to get a waiver in order to go to MEPS to see if I can get a waiver to get back in...

Without doubt, I am not you. Waivers for recruits going to MEPS is common place...depending upon what is being waived? PS waivers are normally easier, as you have already proven the issues was not stopping you from serving Honorably.

MSG Brad Sand - well, the issues they discharged me for did not arise until I was in service, but turns out they were erroneously diagnosed.

Yes, there are waivers for them. But chances are, you may not get them at your current rank. Notice I said "MAY." If your new unit is in dire need of one, and you have the experience....then present/stress your case. Ultimately, it will be your Commander's decision.

SSG(P) (Join to see) Based on your statement you can probably help your unit SHARP rep or UVA with training, but by regulation you need to be as a minimum a SSG in order to fill one of those positions
