Let’s just say when I graduate from AIT for my secondary MOS. Some one told me it was authorized, however I do not believe so. Might be a dumb question. Just curious.

No, it is only worn by those that carry an 11-series MOS.

SPC (Join to see) for sure man, my thoughts as well. Questioning if they could take a silver one, can't remember what it's called but you get it for qualifying on German weapons

SGT Justin Brothen - I was 11B enlisted, commissioned 11B, but even I was not allowed to wear my blue chord at my Officer Basic Course. Their logic was that I wasn't a fully qualified Infantry Officer.

SPC (Join to see) Technically you do not earn the blue cord. It is only worn by those in the position. It's not a permanent award just like unit awards. You earn the right to wear it but you do not earn the right to keep it. I went from 11B to 11A. One day I hope to do something else and then I will lose my infantry cord. Keep in mind the reason why they made the infantry cord was to doesn't make those who are and the infantry. It's supposed to bring pride to Infantry units.

You’re right in your initial assumption. AR 670-1 Para 19-30 covers Distinctive items authorized for Infantry personnel.

That was dumb of me. I meant NO CSM. You didn’t ask what I was reclassing to. So I’m guessing only if I reclass to 11C. I am authorized to wear my blue chord. Appreciate the feedback SGM

CSM Charles Hayden- On the lighter side of this Blue Cord issue upon returning from Vietnam found my Dad and older Air Force Master Sergeant brother having a few.beers at the kitchen table, since we were required to travel in Class A uniform my brother took one look and stated I looked like some Doorman at a New York City hotel! Evidently he wasn’t impressed by the Blue Cord.Hope everything is hunky dory your way Chuck,Phil.
