For those looking for opportunities after separating, the 7 Eleven Corporation offers excellent opportunities to Veterans. I spoke with them at a veteran's job fair several years ago. At the time they were still trying to get certified for an SBA loan. However, they offer discounted franchise fees to veterans. That is, if you've stayed in long enough to amass the franchise fee.

Edit: Adding a caveat = Honorable Discharge and E5 or above with $15,000 liquid Assets.

Why we want veterans
If you’re a U.S. military veteran, consider yourself vetted! 7‑Eleven knows you have the skills, focus and dedication to lead a successful business. That’s why we offer special military incentives and programs to make franchising easier than ever. To all our qualified vets interested in business ownership, we offer:

Up to 20% off the initial franchise fee*
(savings up to a maximum of $50,000)
Up to 65% financing through 7‑Eleven
Special financing
If you like the idea of using your skills to grow your very own 7‑Eleven franchise, let’s talk. Joining our ranks could be one smart business maneuver!

*For qualified applicants only. Applicable to the first store you franchise.

SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL No Problem, it looked like a great opportunity. Unfortunately I had been out of work for 6 months during the beginning of the 2008 recession.
