Battle Staff was a great course. Challenging as well as valuable to the career. Highly recommended.

The first thing you should do is check your career map and make sure you are in the position your rank require. I know people don't like to volunteer but volunteering for sharp, EO, or any other assignment out there that you can take will put you ahead of your peers also you can take any certification specifically for your MOS this will put you in a position that you will get promoted in your first look

SSG (Join to see) - I wonder if my friend, SGT (Join to see), picked up on this thread?

I hope he/she did because that's the way to go. Been ready, prepare for anything way ahead of your time it always pays off, it's always good to get ready for to ranks over your current rank, I got my eyes on SGM rank that's my focus at the moment

CSM Charles Hayden, there is actually a formal career map now. It's found in DA PAM 600-25, and it lists all of the opportunities for advancement that a Soldier in a particular MOS should be focused on at each stage of his/her career. However, this thread is great too!
