President-Elect Donald Trump has nominated RallyPoint member Pete Hegseth to be SECDEF. If confirmed, what should be his priorities? I'd especially love to hear what current service members have to say. What does he need to do to make the military more lethal? What should OSD prioritize to improve your lives and the lives of your families and peers?

Get back to the Basics- Military are to fight & defend, not play social media games, not pick pro nouns, not DEI. We wore green, blue, etc. all the same color, and we bled red. Nobody better than anyone else, no race, etc.

SGM Bill Frazer concur -- the social media games cater to individuals and groups of individuals. Our warriors, instead of banging the drum of that individuality, should be championing the values and virtues of America -- reset the warrior foundation to engage and destroy the enemies of our nation; A house is only as strong as its foundation.

Ah yes someone who hasn't served in forever talking about things that aren't happening.
I just retired in Sept. There was no DEI. No "pick a pronoun." I still don't know why you guys hate English grammar...
No we weren't all "the same color." Racism and sexism permeate through the ranks. YOU may not have experienced it but it's still there in 2024. There IS skin color and ethnicities and gender. By saying "I don't see color or gender" you don't see a person.

SSG Carlos Madden, let's see if he gets confirmed first. I have my own opposition points to the selection, based on Mr. Hegseth's own comments.
That said, the SecDef should focus on building force and managing a budget with more numbers than he has ever seen. We have a recruiting and retention problem. The military's budget increases every year, yet unit training and maintenance budgets always go down. Billeting is getting worse every year (barracks and on-post housing). Alignment with professional associations for credentialing, dial back investment in programs and projects that aren't finished equipment, dump money into MWR in not-so-popular assignments, pay Soldiers more. The R&D budget is almost the same size of total force compensation.
Take care of the people and people will stop telling everyone your organization is terrible.

I personally feel that they need to expedite the modernization of vehicles. I know that I'm not privy to the finer details of the big picture, but conducting PMCS on vehicles that continue to find their way back on the ESR is borderline offensive at this point. I get it, there's a process, but if they can modernize our helicopters at the snap of a finger, maybe consider the same for those vehicles needed to support the movement of those aircraft.

That's a good one. The time wasted by joes conducting PMCS, especially in the NG/RES side, is insane.
