Does the military teach new recruits or even seasoned veterans about the risk of Diabetes?

I don't remember ever hearing anything about this. And Type 2 is largely preventable.

I never heard a word about it back then. Now I am treated for it at the VA. Unfortunately, it is part of my family's medical history and has killed my great-grandfather and a cousin in the Netherlands. I follow my instructions from the VA to the letter. My P.A. at the clinic treats me like I am his only patient.
