I've been out of the Army for over 5 years. I was diagnosed with PTSD after my discharge, but I have been seeing a therapist since 2008. I have learned many useful coping skills, and I am very adept at handling any type of stress that is thrown my way. I have been very successful in my educational career, thus far. I am now happily married.

Is there any way that I can get back into the Army, given my PTSD rating? I have a Separation Code of: JFV, and a ReEntry Code of: 3.

At this point in time, I really do miss the military life. Had I known what PTSD was when I was going through my discharge, I would have opted to stay in the Army, but the psychologist that talked to me during my outprocessing interview gave me some very poor advice (essentially told me I would forever be a burden on the Army, and I would never be a useful soldier ever again).

Kind of a side-bar: Are you, or do you know someone that was diagnosed with PTSD, discharged, and then reentered the Army in recent years? Any realistic advice would be greatly appreciated.

I should have elaborated; I know what the codes mean.

I was hoping that someone in retention, or a recruiter, would read this, see the codes, and be able to give me more information about particulars that are being considered due to drawdown in force strength.

Thank you for the responses so far.

I don't have any personal experience but using the seperation information you gave on a quick search I found this.
