Outside Military Clubs / Organizations

If actively involved in an active association, Mentorship is one of the most important returns of investment...not too mention all the networking that can be done.

I have been a member of the Blackhorse Association since '93 and the Armor and Cavalry Association since '08. I get the opportunity to remain a part of one of my favorite units by being a life member of the Blackhorse and get to attend annual functions if so inclined to foster camaraderie and to pass traditions down to younger Blackhorse Troopers. As a member of the Armor and Cavalry Association, I get to be a part of the building of the Armor and Cavalry Museum, foster education for those not familiar with Armor and Cavalry history and equipment, mentor and pass down traditions to young Tankers and Scouts and remain a part of is, "The Combat Arm of Decision!"     "TREAT 'EM ROUGH!!"

I work at the Marine Corps Association & Foundation and I'm a member of Together We Served, the AFA and have done some volunteer work with the American Legion. While I think the greatest benefit is connecting and networking through these organizations, a number offer benefits such as magazines, events like a dinners and book signings and a number of discounts through their affinity partners and their own retail establishments. Those with Foundations offer a way to "give back" to the military branch that laid the ground work for a successful career - military or civilian.
