What did you want to get or learn from RallyPoint when you first joined?
My question hasn't been asked, I checked. I want to know what your expectations were when you joined RallyPoint and have they been met?
Please put a little thought into your answers instead of just "yes" or "no"!
For me, I expected RallyPoint to be just another social media site like Facebook or LinkedIn. I was really surprised by some of the very sharp, professional, and outstanding individuals that I've interacted with to-date on the site. I'm glad that I've helped influence a few individuals in the right direction and help a few with advice and motivation. Some of the discussions have been very helpful and informative. There are individuals that take the time to really post great questions, topics, and provide excellent feedback. It is more than just a social media site for me. It's a great place to provide information for others in areas that are important to you as the individual and to gain insight and feedback from others. I really feel like I've made some lasting connections and friendships from afar!

COL Mikel J. Burroughs I was invited by a couple of my LinkedIn connections. Since they were LinkedIn connections, I expected that RallyPoint would be much more professional, courteous, respectful and informative than my experience with Facebook has been.
Since I joined in March 2015, I have generally found that RallyPoint has been a site where I can have professional, courteous, respectful and informative discussions with fellow veterans, active duty military service members and civilian supporters.
I hoped to reconnect with many former comrades-in-arms; but, that goal has been somewhat elusive for me to meet. However, on the plus side I have met many new friends on RallyPoint that I share interests with.
I appreciate more focused discussions where ideas can be bounced around and discussed in a mature manner.
I also appreciate good humor and puns when appropriate and have found that RallyPoint has many members who also enjoy good humor which I define as funny without directly offending people. LTC Stephen C., SSG James J. Palmer IV aka "JP4", SGT (Join to see), SGT Forrest Stewart, SPC (Join to see), TSgt Hunter Logan, GySgt Wayne A. Ekblad, CPT L S, SSgt (Join to see), CH (MAJ) William Beaver, CPT (Join to see), PO3 Steven Sherrill, PO1 John Miller, SGT Robert Hawks, LTC Bink Romanick, CPT (Join to see), Capt Seid Waddell, CW5 Charlie Poulton, CPT (Join to see)

My response is basically the same: to catch up with old army buddies but also to branch out and network with Warrant Offucers (mainly 920B) to get guidance on certain situations. It is definitely good to know people.

I’m a sponge for info about military related services and support. Since the news media has adopted sensationalism and biased current events reporting (most seem to be competing with the talk show “The View” these days) I have tuned them all out. I am the administrator for three Face Book, military related groups and I’m always looking for new information to share with them and their families.

Is it bad I had no real expectations about the website or page, this one is easier to move around, thought maybe reconnect with some fellow shipmates that's is about it

Sir,
I was unsure about whether a 2LT should salute a 1LT. Whew, after long intensive posts about it, I now know. Lol

I wanted to continue to give back, and I also wanted to stay current on topical issues around our military. RP seemed different, because we are all veterans.

COL Charles Williams you certainly have given back a great deal through all of the great posts, discussions, and replies that I've witnessed. I'm glad that we have connected and I look forward to great discussions in the future. You are one of those individuals that I've had the pleasure of meeting RP. Thanks for your service and continued involvement with veterans, retirees, and active service members.
