I'm soon to be transitioning to the reserves and want to find out where I can find the units that will have my mos or do they just assign me to one closest to my home of record? I'm asking because I was made aware that I can possibly transition earlier than previous ETS if the unit has a spot available now any info would help

You will want to go to "My Records" on the home page of http://www.hrc.army.mil.
After signing in with your AKO user name and password (or CAC if you have the ability) click on "Tools".
From there look for "Vacancy Search" and click on it.
Under "Vacancy type" make sure the bubble next to TPU is chosen. the rest is self explanatory.
If you have Vacancy questions about the Army national Guard you can call a Recruiter close to where your HOR is. Good Luck.

SGT(P) (Join to see) - Not a problem. Keep in mind that the Vacancy search tool in "My Records" is for army reserve only.

SGT(P) (Join to see) - you can be placed into a slot that is one grade higher. but keep in mind that they may choose to put you in a position equal to your grade if its available. Its all up to the commander. Take a look at paragraph 2-6 of AR 140-10. it will give you some guidance on this.

I also know that the reserves in norman are seeking do sergeants if you look up Don Carr on Facebook he can give you the down low. Tell him my name and he will give you some info. Also if you can get to the norman armory they have a reserve there.

I understand. To me there is no better way but to have it prepared when needed. At one point he said that they a bonus. The armory has several posted signs talking about bonuses and mos's needed.

Questions like this is why RallyPoint was created. Use the advanced search function to find units, recruiters, or active reservists in that area with your MOS. RallyPoint will put you in direct contact with them so you can hopefully generate some options and figure out the best situation for you as quickly as possible.

I HIGHLY recommend posting this question in the "Discussions" tab from the link. Anyone assigned to that unit will see your question and point you in the right direction.
