Good morning. I have been wondering something. I hope you can share your insights. Why did it take Donald Trump comments on Hispanics for him to get fired? Why was it not considered freedom of speech? I ask this because Mr. Trump implied our POTUS needed to prove he was a citizen among other things. He implied Obama was not educated enough to be president. Why did got to be considered this is Trump being Trump but the comments about Hispanics had such dire consequences for him?

First, our Freedom of X, whether it be Speech, Assembly, Religion, etc is often used incorrectly.
It is a PROTECTION from GOVERNMENT action when we are using those things. For whatever reason, many people do not understand that. Simply put, you can say almost anything you want, and the GOVERNMENT cannot do anything to you, but you are NOT Free from the Consequences of your fellow Citizens.
If your fellow Citizens turn a blind eye, there are no consequences. If they choose to take action, those Protections are NOT applicable.
This is NOT a (Protection of) Freedom of Speech issue. Mr. Trump has been exercising Freedom of Speech the entire time, and barring the Mayor of NY saying his contracts should be investigated, there have been no (Protection of) Free Speech issues. If he gets fired from a Private Party, that does NOT trigger 1a issues.
But back to your original question. When you talk about 1 person, you have 1 person mad at you. When you talk about a CLASS OF People, you have a class of People mad at you, as well as anyone who wants to PROFIT off said class of People. That is why he is seeing the Consequences of his Speech now.

I am beyond lost? Who fired Trump? He is a multi-billion that runs his own businesses. I am not sure how he could be fired. He is worth 4.1 billion.
Freedom of speech means idiots can say what ever they want. I am not saying that he is an idiot but just because an opposing view doesn't mean he can't speak out. If you think he is crazy you need to look up some other people out there.

SSG John Thornton - It was HIS show. He wasn't "fired," they just simply didn't "buy" his show any longer.

Sgt Kennedy spoke it perfectly up there. Basically, freedom of speech is NOT freedom from criticism. Too often, people think freedom of speech means no one should be upset by what was said. The constitutional right of freedom of speech only means the government can't throw you in jail (or worse) simply because of what you said. Trump is free to be the bigoted blowhard that he is, without worry that he'll get locked up. However, Univision, NBC and anyone else offended by his remarks are also free to feel and say what they think about him as part of their own freedom of speech.
Lastly, as Sgt Kennedy stated as well: there's a difference between a derogatory comment towards a person (in this case, Pres. Obama) and a derogatory comment towards a whole group of people. Personally, the birther claim seems based on a racist presumption as well, but every president has a target on his back for unfounded claims of some sort. Trump meanwhile indicated that EVERYONE who comes from Mexico is either a drug dealer or rapist, oh and MAYBE there's a few good people thrown in there as well. Univision is a Latin company- how would they NOT be offended by that?

Trump is incredibly racist. Go back and listen to his remarks: here didn't say "Some of the illegals are criminals" or "There is a large number of criminals among the illegals." No, he said that Mexico is "sending people that have lots of problems... They’re bringing drugs, they’re bringing crime, they’re rapists, and some, I assume, are good people." First problem is that he's implying that Mexico's government is actually sending these people and that they're not acting on their own. Second, his quote basically says he KNOWS there are rapists and drug dealers, but that it's only an assumption that there are some good people in the group. According to Trump, it's far more likely that an immigrant coming here is bringing drugs or is a rapist than it is that they're a good person. I have no idea where you're getting that 70% number but iI know it's wrong

SPC Nathan Freeman - Spec; Fair enough. It would help if you actually provided all the information rather than tailoring what you will exclude in order to "prove" a point.
Now, with reference to "non-US citizens", what proportion of "non-US citizens" in the United States of America today are "illegal Mexicans"? If the proportion of "illegal Mexicans" is higher than 70%, do you know what that proves if "70% of our inmates are illegal Mexicans who have committed feliny (sic) crimes.".
PS - Some of those "felony crimes" are actions which are legal in some states - would you like to guess which ones they are?
