Since the new uniform as well as multicam are authorized for garrison wear on the first, are acu ta50 and the new uniform able to be worn together until current ta50 is switched out?

Published guidance is that TA-50 can be mixed by pattern throughout the transition period. Look at the last image with all of the tables on it.

According to the chart, if the Soldier is in ACUs with UCP, he must wear all UCP gear.
If he is in OEFCP or OCP, he can wear either OCP, UCP, or OEFCP gear.
I would suggest printing the card and ensuring all your troops are on the same page, especially as some will want to be the first kid on their block with the new stuff. I'm rather surprised the 1SG or CSM hasn't done a class already.
I hope that helps, SGT(P) Daniel McBride

You need to re-read the chart...You can wear the UCP OCIE with any of the three uniforms...

A little late to the question. SGM Commons, Army G1 Uniform Policy SGM, put out that whatever gear your CIF issues can be worn with the OCP uniform. SGM Commons did not specify that to the allotted transition period. That transition period only applies to the ACU (Army Combat Uniform), whether UCP or OCP variant. Obviously the transition is over for the ACU, however some CIFs are not fully caught up to OCP pattern OCIE, so UCP OCIE is authorized until CIF has procured only OCP OCIE and has cleared their inventory of UCP OCIE.

Soldiers can mix camo patterns for cold-weather gear
As winter weather approaches and temperatures drop, Soldiers turn to their cold-weather gear to keep warm outdoors while conducting training or operations.

Just found ALARACT 071/2019 published 11 OCT 2019 that talks about this topic. Will have to scrub it tomorrow on my military computer.

The Army can’t force you to buy TA-50 gear. If you have the old one you will turn them in at some point whether when the Army says or when inprocessing/outprocessing and get the same back in new pattern.
