In your opinion, what is the coolest (hip, awesome) job in the United States military? Why is it the coolest?

I loved being an Army Drill sergeant, hands down. The positive impact that you have into transforming civilians into soldiers was amazing. Did it active duty, then in the Reserves for almost 12 years combined. A hard job to be sure, but I felt like I was making a difference.

I remember the coolest was around minus 70 at South Pole. Best job I ever had. Got to do some great engineering and construction plus blow things up. Awesome!

Yep. I had some Engineering Aides (EAs). I used the T-2 mostly for navigation. It was specially modified with dry lube and LER eyepiece so you didn't stick to it. A T-2 is overkill for that but it was also used for precise fixes so we could measure ice drift.
