Wearing your uniform to your day job - Against regs or no?

The British military has a Reserves day once a year, where the Reservists wear uniforms to their day jobs.
Is it against regulations for us to do this? That would be my first impulse to think, and the idea leaves me a bit uncomfortable about mixing the roles.
What are everyone else's thoughts about this?

The regulation specifies that the uniform should only be worn when performing military duties or for military-oriented social or ceremonial events, so we'd probably be alright in wearing the uniform.
Additionally, a similar practice to 'Reserves Day' in the UK would undoubtedly be coordinated by USARC and/or NGB, directly authorizing a 'wear your uniform to work day.'
Personally, I'd welcome it!

I would caveat this by stating that many individuals in my area whom are in the USAR occasionally wear their uniforms to civilian jobs as they leave directly from work for drill weekend / battle assembly. I personally do not see an issue with this practice, and have done the same.

Great for the Brits, but unless there's a big change in 670-1, wouldn't fly with us.

As a JAG Officer, my recommendation is it is ok, in general. It a good idea to run this by the unit JAG & your commander. The line approaches grey when your job enters into a public space, more specifically political. remember, we're non-partisan while in uniform. For example, You cannot wear your uniform in support of a political office at a public ralley.

If you look at your drill schedule, it has a signature block for the commander approving the schedule, which is also the authorization for the unit Service Members for the performance of their duty, in whatever status it specifies. So, as the above SM's relate, when they leave directly for a drill assembly, Annual Training, or Active Duty for Training (ADT), then they have been authorized to wear the appropriate uniform. Obviously, same authorization if you are on orders. As the chief opines, your command could allow other circumstances where you are authorized to wear the uniform, with the limit being political activity, which is not authorized.
