I currently have orders to PCS and hopefully I will be leaving next month. I am assuming I will have a shot to go to air assault just like must of the people who is stationed there. Any advices of what should I Study/trained before going? Also, I am interested in doing combatives but unfortunately my losing unit is not doing combatives any more fort COVID related/ “people can get injured” type of bullshit. Do they have the same politics over there as well? No idea ID my MOS is relevant but just in case I am 11B

You do not have to study anything beforehand since you will learn everything on site. You need to be physically ready for the run and obstacle course since that is what will allow you to continue the rest of day zero. Get ready for weekly rucking, so toughen up those feet!

If your unit does select you to do AASLT, a proper leadership will ensure that you do a run through of the course to see if you are ready.

If he's going to Campbell as a Bravo, it's not an "if" his unit is going to send him. It's when.

No real study required prior, they will train you on everything.
Being physically and mentally tough are probably the biggest things to start with. Running and rucking are the butt kickers. The rest is paying attention to detail and having a good memory.

I think finding info about hand and arm signals and sling load link counts wouldn't hurt, but where to find that info would be tough since the only place that has Field Manuals is the internet. Good luck finding one of those places.
