I am looking to check some more requirement boxes while I camp on the OML and try to make myself more competitive. Battle Staff seems to be one of the necessary evils. I am wondering if anyone can recommend any specific study material that might help me to prep for the course before going. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

You don't need to study anything because so much is covered in the class. But if you want to be familiar with the material read the ADPs and ADRPs concerning Army Doctrine and Operations Orders, operational planning and MDMP, including map overlays of unit symbols, unit makeup, and the Intel assessment (can't remember the acronym right now) and COAs.

LTC Jason Mackay - Sir that is true. I am a 12Y Geospatial Engineer and if there's one thing that is common in every unit I have been in it's that there is nothing common about graphics. Everyone wants their own custom way of labeling and it's rarely if ever following doctrine of any kind.

SFC (Join to see) - Looks like I'm going to have my 35Fs work up a STT for IPB and MDMP so I can get my feet wet. Typically I am observing from the outside as they modify the products my shop makes. Thank you for the insight about what to expect and possibly refresh on. It's much appreciated.

LTC Jason Mackay I think the graphics was the only thing I was good at lol. I swear I was completely lost until the very end when I saw the whole thing come together

Not really, you will train as every section- S1-S5. What you need to do is study the assignments they give you and ask questions of either the Instructors or and especially your peers who work inthe section.

Senior Military instruction courses are designed to pass that information on to You and they do. Give the course Your full effort, study all the materials and text You are given and it will pay off ! I've always found that 100% effort on the course got the desired result. I do remember though after one course I was so anxious to read something that wasn't a textbook for the course I read three regular books for pleasure within the course of a single week after completing the course. I got plenty out of the course but reading six volumes of text was plenty of good information but sure not entertainment. I'd still do the same thing again and concentrate mainly on the course while I was taking it.
