Should Government Contractors be allowed to use the PX?

Why do you feel govt contractors should or should not be allowed to use the PX or purchase tobacco products? If they are a govt contractor who is supporting a unit's mission and deploys with them why can they not use the facilities on base, this includes gyms. I know here no Ft. Meade contractors cannot use the facilities and I am sure it is the same everywhere. I personally feel they should be able to especially since the govt is paying for their service and their companies contract.

My own personal opinion on this is such: The military has too much invested in contracting. Look back historically.... How many contractors were there in WW1 and WW2? How about some of the other conflicts? Now, fast forward to Iraq and Afghanistan..... Can anyone say "Blackwater"? They say the military is too big, so they are going to do cuts.....but what about all those fat and sassy GS and Contract positions? Take them out, fill with troops. Seems to have worked in the past. Also, back in the days of WW2, there was 1 General/Flag officer for every 15-17k troops....we are now at an all time high of 1 General/Flag officer for every 9-10k troops.... NO. Contractors should not be authorized to use base shopping unless they are retirees (who have earned that privalage). Government/DoD Bloat....

I disagree, it should depend on the capacity the serve as a contractor. If they are a paper pusher then no, if the are in direct support of a unit, and deploy with them then they should be able to, in my opinion

I think that the contractors should be allowed to use the Px. I mean if they are direct support of that particular post. If you really think about it I think that they should have more access to military installations then we as service members have. We as soldiers are provide a service to them by defending them. So I think that their access to facilities such as the PX should be unlimited and unrestricted

SGT White, I am actually saying in addition to No, they should not earn the right to use the PX/BX (at least in CONUS), but I think that the DoD should not be using as many contractors as they are....PERIOD. Fill those slots with AD troops. Almost every job done by a contractor is a high wage position then an AD member receives and is taking away a job from one of our own.

For me anyone who has access to base with a valid card should be able to use privileges such as the PX, BX, Commissary, gym, etc.
