If you could give every future soldier one piece of advice, what would it be?

Take classes every opportunity that you get, you will be glad you did. Save money and take advantage of the travel opportunities, most of all enjoy the camaraderie.

That's easy. I tell this to every new Soldier I get.
1. Be where you're supposed to be.
2. Do what you're supposed to do.
3. You control how your career progresses ie:
Doing well on your APFT
Doing your SSD's
Take advantage of what the military has to offer
4. Never be afraid to ask questions.

Structured Self Development. You will learn to love/hate ALMS. Lol. It's professional development on line training for all enlisted. SSD 1=E4 and below etc.
BTW. I'm not a Sir. Lol. And I'm not that damn old either(joke). Appreciate the respect though.

Great advice. Also if it seems you don't like the military just stick to it. Seek out advice to futher your self and education. Take full advantage of what the military offers compared to cilivian lifestyle. Make the most of your time in the military.

I couldn't offer much advice about being a soldier, but anyone starting off in the military should sign up for every savings plan there is and then save part of their pay in a Roth IRA or some form of long term investment. If you are single and young, you will likely never have more disposable income than you have now. Save it. You will be glad you did.
