Can an IET SM keep their orders to Bragg if they fail airborne school?

I need some advice: An IET Soldier is facing either being recycled or admin dropped from airborne school. Their family, pets, and belongings are already at Bragg. Their CO and 1SG are offering to bend over backwards to find a way to keep that Soldier at Bragg, if they choose to be dropped, but I’m now wanting to know if that’s possible? I know there are non-airborne qualified people here, at Bragg, but how would it work to keep a non-airborne Soldier at an airborne unit? Lat move to a non-airborne unit regardless of MOS? I’d hate for a 14 series SM to not be able to grow into their MOS. The only ADA BDE here is airborne. Their CO said it’s possible. Anybody with experience?

I was stationed at Bragg, 82. ABN DIV. I had quite a few of my Soldiers who were not ABN qualified and they stayed with us. As long as the unit accepts them, nothing can change it. Of course we had BDE CDR down to company CDR accept those soldiers. Even though four of them failed/admin dropped from the school. So yes CDR has that discretion and he/she can make that call as long as S/he can justify their stance to BDE cdr

SGT (Join to see) Why don’t they simply recycle? My brother did twice, then on his third recycle he QUIT! This was in the early 1969s.

Ok since you are specifically talking ADA....there are 2 battallions within 108th bde. 3/4 and 1/7. Only 1 battery in 3/4 is airborne. The rest of the ada folks are 14e, 14t and 14g. If he is one of those, he needs to talk to the bn csm (I'm assuming he is with 3/4) and see about getting moved to one of the non airborne batteries in his battalion (or over to 1/7)

SSG, they are slotted for HHB, 108th ADA BDE. I’m honestly not familiar with the brigade.

SGT (Join to see) the bde is always short on joes. If he's a decent soldier, no reason why his battery won't work with keeping him. If I had to guess, 90% of the bde is not airborne qualified. Surely there is somewhere they can utilize him. The bde commander is a very reasonable individual, if his battery leadership wants to keep him or work to move him within the bde, there is no reason why it can't happen. I'm not an expert on manning issues so take what I said as you will as there is always more to every story and situation. You said he's a 14G, that does indeed narrow down his possibilities within the bde as I believe only 3/4 has those specific slots.
