A friend of mine in my unit is wanting to become a warrant officer. I told him I know the perfect place to ask for help so here I am. What should one do in order to increase their chances of being selected for WOCS?

The link from CW2 (Join to see) lists everything required for the packet.
Your friend will need to be at least an E5 with at least three NCOERs, two of those in a leadership position, and ALC complete.
KY ARNG Recruiting and Retention BN (RRB) should have WO recruiters that will help submit the packet and put you in contact with a warrant in that branch for a letter if you don't have one at your unit.

They submit that to your state G1 for a fed rec board for WOC.

Start off knowing what type of WO do you want to be? I.e Pilot, ground technician or other, then be in the correct feeder MOS to that field. Some WO MOS's are branch in material meaning anyone from any MOS can apply, the rest are specific. Each MOS requirements are set by its respective branch. If you want to be SF WO, you need to have the qualifications set down by that respective branch. Now you will need to meet all the general requirements such as PT score, GT score, time in the MOS, leadership position requirement, education requirements, rank requirements and so forth. For some people it may be easier to get your degree and become an officer through ROTC or OCS then going the WO route. One last point, a it seems a lot of people tend to do this, if you want to be helicopter pilot, don't ask a Automotive Warrant how to become one. If I had a dollar for every time I got asked that, ask someone in that field.
