Recruiting or Aviation Service Schools Instructor, which is the better career move?

Looking for advice on what to pursue in the future. I have been a Staff Sergeant for just shy of 2 years and have held all leadership positions up to a Platoon Sergeant for my MOS. I enjoy the higher OPTEMPO of deployments, but know with deployments coming to an end my fun will end also. What would be the better advantage of having when coming time for my SFC Board, Recruiter or Service Schools Instructor? If I was to become an Instructor it would most likely be at Fort Eustis or Fort Rucker.

With the Army's post-war focus change with downsizing, recruiting having smaller missions and emphasis leaning towards service school instructors (they'll even have an identification badge soon), I would strongly encourage instructor to any qualified NCO.
The Army has far less service school instructors than detailed recruiters...if successful, this can set an NCO apart from another.

Thank you for your advice. That is a great way of looking at things. One of my friends was an instructor/branch chief at Ft. Rucker and was able to teach pilots from the US Army as well as pilots from many other countries also. This does sound kind of better than recruiting.

Thank you! I have been going through the AARs for 2012 SFC Board and 2013 MSG Board and NCOs with either Recruiter and Instructor are voted more favorable than NCOs without. Just trying to think what would be best for me. I contacted my Recruiter years ago and he said it was a good way to learn more things, but I know he didn't have a good time. He tried to get me looking into other paths.

It sounds to me as if you would be bored to death sitting in an office selling the Army to a kid trying to escape from something in civilian life. You stated you enjoy the higher OPTEMPO of deployments. Is it just deployments or are you more of an adrenaline junkie who is not going to be satisfied in recruiting.
I cannot advise you on the current Board Makeup for Army SFC, but there is good advice about that. However, I think you have already answered your question as to what you really want to do. I really enjoyed the interplay as an instructor, watching the light come on in a student's eyes as he/she got it, and seeing the change from student to Technician.
So, answer the question for yourself, which will make you happy Instructor or Recruiter? As SSG (Join to see) said: Mentor or Sales?
