Do you think veterans are well represented in politics, or need more involvement?

What are your thoughts on Veterans in politics? Do you feel we are currently represented well enough or do we need more involvement in the way local government is conducted?

The Veterans' Party of America agrees. http://www.veteranspartyofamerica.org
Being a Veteran is not required. A desire to fix America is required. We are founded by Veterans, for ALL Americans. Join with us.

IF every elected official was a Veteran, we could still use more. In truth, the real problem is that we do not have enough veteran voters.

Not a problem and I do not believe that just because a person was a flag officer they would be a good political candidate BUT I do still believe that such experience would make them a better candidate than say...being a community organizer?
General Meigs...Civil War General Meigs? He might have been a good politician, he was brilliant logistically and played a key role in winning the Civil War a role that is greatly under appreciated today.

I would love to hear where he stood on some of the issues...to see where is heart and mind are. As leaders in the military, we always have someone above us but where does he stand in his own belief system?
Not trying to be a dick...it just comes naturally for some...but there is a slight bit of difference between General Montgomery Meigs and General James Mattis...beyond the fact that General Meigs is dead...I think he would have been great in his time but so could General Mattis.

CPL Doug Hill None was taken...I was not aware of the younger Meigs. I can only assume there is family connection between the two me? The Civil War General is one of the most important generals of the era but because he was not a battlefield commander, very few people know him today...think of General Marshall in WWII or Powell in the Gulf War, but probably playing an even more important role in the overall victory.
