So as of yesterday I had became my units Barracks Managing NCO, and as everything in the Army, paperwork was a mess, and the prior NCO did not really care of things in the barracks. I am always up for a Challenge, but I have the slightest clue on how the Barracks Management works and having a a hard time finding documents on how to get things done.
I was thinking of running it how a Apartment would but I am sure it is a diffrent beast, anyone here had any knowledge on running barracks or having to do Barracks Inspections and talking to the NCOIC of the barracks, or general tips to get contact with the contractors, places to get things, ect

My best advice on this is so simple many people do not think of it. See who the best person at that job is in adjacent units, who makes the highest marks in inspections and seek out their guidance.

That was my next step tomorrow, I have a meeting this week with Staff Duty of the Barracks so hopefully I get more answers, and will be asking questions through this thread

Wow, times have changed! I knew open bays were a thing of the past. I'm unfamiliar with the job title Barracks Managing NCO. Nov '74-Dec '75 at Camp Casey, Korea was the last time I lived in a barracks.

Haha they still have those during basic SSG, and at some Forts but times certainly have change, we now live and semi smaller apartments where 2 soliders share a kitchen and bathroom area and our own personal rooms. That said, barracks are random when it comes to quality, 82nd barracks are huge with elevators and balconies weight rooms ect, while a support side might barely have a mail room with leaks and bad plumbing. I believe the Barracks NCO was made in order to be the middle ground between the contractors and First Sargeant, so the First SGT has less to worry about
