Are certain areas for deployment more available for specific MOS’s?

Joined the National Guard as a 74D back in January this year and unfortunately my training dates got pushed way back due to COVID but I know I want to deploy in my first contract. There’s not a lot of information out there about 74D’s but I was curious if certain MOS’s get more options for deployment because of the work they do.

If your unit is not deploying look within your stare for deploying units. After than look National wide, National Guard Bureau has a website you can search. MOS demand varies based on type unit and deployment location.

Thanks chief, I know if you’re 11B or combat-related MOS you’re probably more limited to combat deployments but I didn’t know if non-combat MOS’s had more options on where they go based on their general line of work.

SPC (Join to see) - the Tour of Duty website is for individual fillers, for deploying Army unit personnel shortfalls or JMD/ad hoc deployed HQ without an MTOE. But 99% of the time, units and personnel assigned to them are being deployed by HQDA as a unit. The US Army abandoned the individual filler system after Vietnam. So no MOS "deploys more", it's by unit type and capability (MTOE SRC).

LTC (Join to see) my point is the Joint Requirement is filled by the Joint Staff by assigning a capability from a service in the form of a unit UIC/SRC. Now if it’s got shortfalls, that is a MACOM or GCMCA reaching across their formations to fill gaps. Big Army isn’t trying to build a formation with eaches.
Certainly no discernible pattern for a junior 74D trying To game the system to deploy.

Because the mission is mostly training, security and nation building, Infantry, Engineers, and support MOSs (logistics & supply, and maintenance, for example) are more in demand for deployment.
The CBRN threat is relatively low (unless things get heated with Syria, IMHO). There may be some training opportunities, but usually they want SSG - MSG level.

SPC (Join to see) No. I'm not saying that. They won't reclass someone just to fill the need, they would find someone already in the needed MOS.
I am not sure how the NG works, but I don't think you can reclass unless there is a slot available to move to. Plus, most enlistment bonuses are tied to your contracted MOS. A retention NCO can provide better info on this.
What I am saying is that there are not a lot of CBRN deployment slots. Your best bet is to look for something that is MOS immaterial. But, if may not be the deployment experience you are thinking of. You would be perhaps a commander driver, or TOC rat (which is where we. Chems live anyway) answering the radio and generally helping out the ops section in the CP/TOC
