This came across one of the Boy Scout pages:

http://blog.scoutingmagazine.org/2014/02/13/join-transatlantic-council-scouts-in-efforts-to-save-the-d-day-beaches/

Read the article and if you decide to, go to the link that is in the article to sign the petition.

I have signed it. It is for a good reason. One is I am an Eagle Scout. And I love History. And Scouting has always taught about preserving history. The second reason is more personnel. My Grandfather served in the USN during WWII and was assigned to the USS Carmick DD-493. Which was one of the first ships in at Normandy. In fact it was one of three ships that were the first off the shore. From what I understand.

For our Army Family, you all should be very concerned since your fore bearers fought on these beaches and put a few feathers in the hats that you all wear. I do not think you would want were you family fought and died being turned into something that none of us would recognize today.

I hope you all can help get this piece of History preserved for all eternity.

I agree, people who forget our history are doomed to repeat it...

We need our kids especially to learn what happened, why, and what we need to do to prevent it!
