I'll be PCSing to Ft Irwin because I want to be near my kids (Baldwin Park) I'll get to have them every weekend. I'm also married, how is housing ? Units ? Any units deploying soon? Rotations?

Housing is pretty good. It's been built up something fierce since my day. With you being CBRN, you could possibly end up in the 11th ACR. If you do, be prepared to not have all of your weekends off. 11th ACR has the OPFOR mission and will be in the field every month and over weekends. If you end up in Garrison Command, you can very well expect all weekends. It's hot as Hell in the summer and very cold in the winter.

Beside OPFOR and conmand, you could be assigned observations and control. You are 2/3rds likely to. Have an adverse schedule.

The Desert is unforgiving... we lost many and I sustained some of my worst injuries there...

LTC Jason Mackay there are now wide shoulders for the entire road. Passing lanes exist, but they’re few and far between. People still pass into oncoming traffic at excessive speed every day trying to shave four minute off their drive time.

I saw a illegal pass result in running a line haul truck with two 577s on it, off the shoulder. If it were not by the grace of God they'd all be dead.

LTC Jason Mackay I left there last year Sir, but the Fort Irwin road did have long stretches of passing lanes and shoulders. Irwin Road doesn’t.
