We have fought this conflict during the Cold War. I know weapon systems are different, technology is different. But the more things change, the more they remain the same.

Today's battlefield has not changed that much. I'm the Cold War, we fielded 2 Armored Calvary Regiments. Their mission was to find, fix and shape the Battlefield for the Heavy divisions that would follow up.

I feel this is a basis for an honest discussion on how best to handle the current situation. What are your thoughts?

Old ACR squardrons were really a self contained highly mobile units that had the mission of finding, fixing, and holding the opposing force until told to either withdrawnto a new position, or advance and scout opposing to set the battlefield for higher Hq.

The Army is moving back to Maneuver Warfare from our counterinsurgency focus. That said, an ACR is really just a large BCT... The issue, do we need ACRs. I am no expert, but I think we need a few.

I agree, we need to go back to the Cold War Strategy, just look at the progress since Europe has grown to become since WWII.
