What happens if you get a upper respiratory infection in navy boot camp? Will they send you home? What do they do to help you with that?

Greg Simmons what do you think they would do to help you with it? Put the leeches on you? Strip you down and force you into the wilds of Grand Lakes for 30 days, allowing you back if you survive? They send you to the Treatment facility and you follow a course of treatment. Where ever that leads.

From a soldiers perspective: I had an upper respiratory infection starting week two of basic until around week 5. At week 3 I went to sick call, was berated by the drill sergeants for being weak, got some prescriptions from the docs on post and was not given any kind of profile. take your meds, suck it up, do the training and graduate. That's really all you can do.

From an Air Force perspective in 2008:
I had a severe upper respiratory infection that progressed to "walking pneumonia". Medical gave me some antibiotics and other meds to knock it out and when I got back to my unit I was instructed to pack my belongings and prepare for transfer to the holding unit (319th). Luckily, the next office I stopped in determined that I should be able to recover in short order and sent me back to my bunk. I graduated with my friends and now get to tell the story about how I pushed through basic and graduated with honors despite severe illness.
