I like this idea, especially for people who can't easily prove they are an honorably discharged Vet. I also like the penalty. I wish the Stolen Valor Act would be revised to have something like this added. Just simple impersonating a military member should hold the same as impersonating a police officer.

Usually they don't prosecute on stolen valor unless that person benefits and/or makes a profit while impersonating a military member. Everyone wants to claim that it's "free speech" for them to play dress-up, but I feel that it just opens the door for them to draw profit, thereby committing a crime. Some places don't go for stolen valor and nip it in the bud, others just let them slide.

IN CA I had to go to the VA with my DD214 and they gave me a letter for the DMV.
