My brother is in the Navy, and we discuss this occasionally.

One point to consider -- if you want a serious answer -- is whether you mean "hardest to pass," or "hardest to max."

looking forward to the video....I think we should all have a combat test like our USMC brethren - for the overall force, I believe that is the toughest overall annual fitness test/standards. As far as minimums though, I'd say the Army:

Army MIN standard for an 18yo male: 42 pushups and 53 situps in 2min. 15:45 2mile run

Marine MIN standard for an 18yo male: 3 pullups or chinups(your choice. unlimited time), 50 crunches(2 min), 28 minute 3 mile run

The Marines are given basically 12 minutes to run 1 more mile... you can WALK that.

For my Marine brothers and sisters out there, let me know if I am tracking old standards...

I have to respectfully disagree on this one Sgt Aaron Kennedy, MS, I know many people who can complete ta 12-Mile March in just over 90-Minutes without running.

I am sure CSM Michael J. Uhlig knows many more than I as he most likely sees more qualified individuals.

SSG (Join to see) It depends on your definition of "running" vs "walking" but if both feet are off the ground at the same time, they are running. If they are doing a 12 mile march in 90 minutes (7.5 minute pace), they are running. That's half marathon distance (13.1 miles), at half marathon speeds.

Check out olympic racewalking, or speedwalking, for clarification.

Naw you got the minimums correct. But those can be misleading Because if you did the minimum on all 3 you would still faIL the PFT because you would not meet the minimum overall score

SSG (Join to see) - I also respectfully have to disagree. If you know people who can finish a 12 mile road march in 90 minutes then I have some ocean front property in Kansas to sell you. 12 miles is doable in two hours, if you run the entire route. Three hours with only a 35 lbs ruck is the standard unless you are talking about the selection process for certain SOF units where the standard is 65 lbs. The claim of 12 miles in 90 minutes is absolutely ridiculous unless you are packing parachutes for world class athletes.
