I had actually learned this a few years back and one of my responsibilities as my BN/BDE security NCO was to ensure that the S-1s and S-3s were dumping the cache files from their copies every 3-4 months to prevent any potential data being lost inadvertently when repairs were being made by outside techs during service calls.
We had also purchased the software that our local DOIMs would install to put the program on auto erase after so many copies had been made as well, to the best of my knowledge during my last 3 years in none of our copiers had any security breaches from outside service calls.
It is definitely something you need to think of, consider all the times over the years you may have had copies at places like Kinko's and your info was saved inside their copiers.
Thank you SFC Baber.
I myself found out about this the day I posted this thread.
First thing that came to my mind was to alert every one in RP so they can take action or become aware of this.
Seems like the military is not the only place this happens but other companies out side of a military post as well.
