Back around 78-79 a general decided that the combat divisions would no longer wear berets. I was in the 101st a and we were extremely proud of those. The last day we could wear them we had a battalion burial ceremony. We placed our berets in footlockers and buried them in front of our battalion. Imagine the cost to the Army to replace all of that headgear not to mention we had to buy our own hats.

So then we get another Scholor General who decides that he wants to wear a black beret so he decides all the Army should wear one. He must have washed. Out of Ranger School so it was his way of getting back at all Rangers. Now their black beret has no significance.

Millions and millions of dollars spent on whimsical ideas.

These folks get paid big bucks to come up with this stuff!!!!

Imagine "This is my claim to fame" SMH

Mandating the wear of reflective belts in PT gear, which is also a reflective uniform. (this was a base policy only, but generated by an O-7)
