As a 25D what is the daily job like and how much opportunities do 25D get to use the skills learned in training?

It depends on where you are stationed. I am currently in a MI BDE filling a GS-13 slot as the Bridge Information Systems Security Manager (ISSM). Many units still don't know how to properly utilize 25Ds but if you are smart, you can quickly demonstrate your value in network defense.

From the research I’ve done, and the people I have talked to, 25Ds end up in the Comsec cage never to be seen again. They do not get to practice the skills of their MOS often. They more do Comsec and bravo work.

I applied and talked with a specific 25D and 17C recruiter. I was a medic at the time with no certs, but I had IT experience from before the Army and earned a cyber security degree in the Army. I was told that I would be accepted, but alas, I was medically retired. That being said, I would think you are good to get looked at. Just do well on the entrance exam, if they still do that. I remember the 17C was more of a logic test, was easy if I remember correctly.
