I was watching videos of the NASCAR pace car being delivered by a Chinook and noticed the crew chief with full vest and other gear. I was wondering if air crews and such carried duty weapons during their flights while CONUS?

The gear you saw on the crew chief is their ALSE vest, crew harness, and flight specific kit. They have that on while blades are turning

We do not usually carry weapons at all unless we are conducting air assaults or are mandated to sgm

Best flight I ever had was in a Apache. Cw 3 Dave Ambrose was a friend of mine. Ansbach .1982. I was in 2/57 ADA. QM. CW3. QM. We went to the field for a 3 days. DAS3 Van. Dave says I will come and pick you up. He did. The company commander Carl Linguist says oh shit it is the General. He runs out to the bird and jumps on. Two minutes later he is back. He says that is your buddy Dave. He took me to the beaches of Munich. Nice tits.

Thanks, I see them flying over my house a lot heading towards the base nearby and was also wondering, if someone was idiotic enough to fire on it how bad of a day would they have
