Should military service members be allowed to participate in commercials?

The first thing I thought during the super bowel ad in which Lt. Chuck Nadda was given a "Hero's Welcome" in his hometown was...."Where the hell is the rank on his Jacket?"
Oh course many of you have thought differently...Mainly the commercialization of the American "War on terror". Some also wanted to see a wounded vet rather then a perceived "perfectly healthy LT."
What are your thoughts?

As long as you have permission from your Commander, PAO etc. and represent honorably, why not?

I think if the person bears themselves professionally, and it is not for a commercial for an organization that is against the military, or for unbecoming organizations, then it would be something that would promote the military in a good light and cause those watching to want to join.

Yes, we should.
Now that's settled, I need an agent. Anyone? ((Bueller?))
