As a leader I feel compelled to dig into the business of anyone that is getting out of the Army, including those that are being separated involuntarily, and to figure out what is their plan. Some individuals are dead-set on what they are going to do, while others do not have a clue. How do you, as a leader, help them to develop a plan in order to be as successful as they possibly can? Do you have an SOP or a system designed to ask the necessary questions? Just wondering what those on RP do, if any, to help these individuals.

I was a voluntary separation and, to be honest, my Leadership couldn't have cared less what my plans were or if I had any. For what it's worth, though, I'd already looked up job openings at the major hospital systems where I was relocating and applying. It helps to have solid job skills that are transferrable to the civilian world.

Honestly each case is different I mean one case is a diehard I am getting out to go to school full time using my GI Bill. Others are that lost sheep and yet others are somewhere in the middle and those are the voluntary separations. Then you add the involuntary separated and most of them do not want to talk to anyway they feel slighted by even if your intentions are good just remember they may not be very forthcoming. You have to do what is right for you and the situation.
