I was in sleeping on the floor of a mud hut in the middle of nowhere. I had with me a several senior ranking Italians and Afghans, MARSOF HQ detachment and leadership from the US Consulate and Italian Foriegn Ministery. We were strained and I had to take a piss. I walked outside in the cold air stretch and thought about a hunting cabin. It was a surreal moment with guards posted on the ridge lines.

Underway, bridge watch on the 4-8's. Walking the deck prior to assuming deck/con, and looking up at the vastness of the sky, seeing all the stars, no light pollution, closest point of land was 2 miles straight down beneath the keel. Peace of being only person on deck, and the beauty of the sky.

When the air war kicked off over Kosovo I was deployed in Hungary and saw one of the most awesome sights an USAF F-15 and Hungarian Air Force Mig-29 flying in formation.

Smokin' and jokin' outside our shed in Taji in 05-06 watching tracers go overhead and thinking, huh- so THAT is what they look like when we shoot those . While wondering if I should take cover. Or the time we formed a HOOAH bar to look like human excrement and showing it to the Iraqi Jundi and then eating it. Never saw someone run away so fast. Never saw that guard again either.
