How can I receive a reservation for M-SLC more quickly?

I know a few of my peers have told me that I would be waiting a year plus to get a seat, but is there anything I can do on my end to secure a seat? I had a relatively high sequence number and have been promotable for about a year and three months now.

You should have priority as a SSG-P with a sequence number. Are you Active or Reserve?
I'm an Infantryman in the Reserve serving in a 00G slot, so I had to wait for the NG to open up a spot in their schoolhouse in order to go. It took me about a year and a half.
If you're Active try to see if you can get an empty slot on the NG side of the house if no slots are open in the Active schoolhouse.
The course is easy. Getting into it was genuinely the hardest part for me.

" It took me about a year and a half."
Very disappointed though not surprised to hear this.
At the very senior NCO levels, when required schooling was being discussed to be tired to rank/promotion we were adamant the school hours had to be built up/ supported so that no SM had an excessive wait for school, were were saying them MUST have, then not able to supply.
At the senior officer and NCO level were assured it would be so....
Its a travesty, we are requiring a check block, the system can not supply.
Ok Solder off to combat you go, here is your rifle, ammo will be sent in to theater in the next 7-10 months

This rings so true it hurts. I have soldiers who can't go to BLC because they haven't finished SSD-1 (Or whatever they've changed it to), but the can't complete it because they haven't even been enrolled yet. :/

I'm here, thanks for the shot out. Join the crowd, reservations are way behind but they should improve for the long haul once the merit based evaluation boards kick of over the next few years. If you are FY17 SSG/P select, call me and I'll help get you here ASAP. If you got selected on the FY18 list, come to Benning for another school (i.e. Ranger) and we may be able to work something that way. Regardless if we walk you on, your unit pays for travel. If you come when HRC sends you, HQDA (MTSA) pays. Questions?
