There are a plethora of schools out there that are made available to SMs. I've been to a handful, but there are still some that I don't even know exist. For soldiers in my line of work, something like RSLC would be the best thing going forward. I don't necessarily plan on staying where I am, and I'm also curious about furthering my military knowledge as well as broadening my horizons and seeing what else is out there. It would also be good to know what helps get a leg up on competitions and what separates me from my peers.

I'm a big fan of BCT3 (Brigade Combat Team Trauma Training) for medics. The Army got it right when they decided that all medics assigned to a BCT needed live tissue training prior to going down range.

SPC Perkel,

For me, it was going to Airborne School. This got me to the 82nd Airborne Division and eventually to becoming a Career Counselor (My MOS). I spent 16+ years at Ft Bragg, and wouldn't trade the Job experience, Life experience, or the friends that I made for anything...

I definitely enjoyed Airborne school. It was almost like a 3 week vacation. I appreciate the input, SFC Bailey.

I feel like the most relevant course I have taken is the 40 hour SHARP class. Its really changed the way I look at the world. With all the SHARP problems arising in the military I think that the correct personnel need to be in place to educate younger soldiers on the issues, including how to handle situations when they do occur. It was a great experience.

Interesting that a simple 40 hour class would be a top pick. That's something I could do, regardless of MOS. I'll have to look into it.

It was definitely an eye opening experience. The transformation you will see from start to finish is crazy.

I haven't been to it but my soldier I sent to Master Resiliency Training said it was an outstanding course. Like SHARP and ASIST, a big deal in today's Army.

Your at a point in your military career where you can go to a commisioning school. Some members of our armed forces love being enlisted. I decided that I wanted to become a Warrant Officer and pilot. Flight school was a tough and challenging adventure for me. Drill sergeant school and reqruiting school have been good schools for helping enlisted soldiers make rank. Like SFC Calmes said SHARP and ASIST are a huge deal in todays army. It depends on what you want to do for your career. You might qualify for green to gold. Good luck with what ever you decide.
