I am finding that as the community of RallyPoint grows and becomes more active, that more and more comments are being down voted simply because they disagree with a point.<br><br>I only down vote a comment when it is disrespectful, arrogant, or incredibly ignorant. I am of the opinion that even if someone disagrees with me, their post can still be well thought out, and of value to the conversation. <br><br>What about you?

Gents, this is a good thread for us to build on. How about you come up with a list of criteria that should be used by members to help them determine whether they should down vote a response? If you guys come up with a good list, which I am confident you will, then we can post that as overall guidance on the site. How does that sound? Ultimately, this could help create consistency across the platform.

CPT Aaron Kletzing I agree that some basic guidelines would be helpful. I do not like to give anyone a down vote. If someone is being indignant, I have the choice to ignore them. However, it is a good idea to let them know, in a tactful manner that they are out of line.

I found people can be a little mean on these discussions. I don't vote down, i honestly believe people have the right to their opinion. i have had people vote me down but generally people are incredibly supportive. <br>

Unfortunately that is pretty common on online forums. In general if you put someone in a position in which there is little to no consequence to their actions, and add in the pseudo anonymity provided by the internet, I find that a lot of people tend to forget their manners.

SGT Chris Birkinbine - Again I agree with SGT Birkinbine however I have downvoted people who don't "THINK" for themselves. If instead of actually engaging in the conversation and writing a proper well thought out and personal response I see basiclly a Cut and Past from the DNC or the latest meme' then I treat it as just someone who has no thought process and having none not worthy of attention.
