Where am I most likely to be stationed as an 88N? What is a typical day like (e.g. work hours and such)?

Very true. My first assignment choices all had the same word in it: Division.

I'm in my reenlistment window. I've been in for 7 years as a cannon crewmember. I'm burnt out by not feeling as though I'm doing anything to be successful within my mos, and feel as though I could do so much more. I'm debating on either getting out or reclassing to 88n I'm just curious your thoughts on whether it's a smart decision to reclass or get out.

Thanks for the info! I am National Guard going active duty. I was an 11B for 3 years and just recently got my DD368 approved. I don’t remember getting a choice for assignments. As far as a typical day I know can be differ from day to day but on average what can I expect? Will it be like other MOS’s where they work 9-5 with an hour lunch break? Or is it nights? Will I have weekends off? That’s more or less the info I’m looking for as far as hours. Just trying to get a picture of what to expect.

When I served I tried to stay overseas as much as I could. The reason for this was that I found more normalization to my everyday life. Worked 5am-4/5pm, and off most weekends. The only time it wasn't would be because of field exercises or preparing for major inspections. As long as I did my job, reported when I was suppose to, you were left alone, no one messed with you. When I did stateside, it was a whole different world, its like there was not enough to do, so you always had someone on your ass, no matter how good a soldier you were. Of course when I served 1973 - 1991, it also was a more difficult time for women as well...I was constantly having to prove my worth as a soldier.
I can't really speak to what it might be like in todays service as the rules changed so much as my time ended, and I'm sure it's even more so now. You could try visiting a base near you if that's possible and check it out or try and find someone to talk to that is in the service around you. SPC (Join to see) - if you are on an MCT you might end up working nights and weekends when there are unit movements. Otherwise it is usually PT, workcall, lunch, COB. If you are at the SB SPO, then your hours will be consistent with the usual exceptions.
