Hey guys so I got my contract and am confused about the dates. It says I need to be at the MEPS on August 5th but when you look below that it says "start date August 16th". Does that mean I am not scheduled to go to Sand Hill until the 16th meaning like 10 days at 30th? I thought reception was only supposed to be like a few days max unless there is something weird that happens like a holiday weekend. Any help would be appreciated.

Yep, I spent 10 days there. It takes time to inprocess.

Do they let you run to stay in shape before Red Phase starts?

SPC Kole Cordier - I don't remember running at all. We weren't allowed to exercise on our own, and they didn't do much exercise with us. Mainly it was teaching us a little PRT (which sometimes was actually a disguised smoke session).

Your time at 30th Reception depends on the cycle schedule on Sand Hill. I spent about 9 days there back in 90. Not much you can do about it. Just sit back and enjoy the ride. And remember to just play the game. Don’t take crap personally and you will do fine.

I agree with all the other responses here. They don't allow you to do any real PT at 30th AG because they don't want you getting hurt before you get to your actual training platoon. When I went through there (Mar 2007) we did push-ups, sit-ups, and other stuff that didn't require much space or equipment.
