Is there a regulation that governs it? Where does the list of Additional Duties originate?

I do not believe there is a consolidated authority for additional duties. They are typically requirements based. Internal Controls for each program indicate what duties are required and subject to some sort of accountability, but not every organization uses every program. Most organizations learn over time what is required, and what is beneficial to have, and makes that a part of its SOP or TTPs.

Many of the additional duties are regulated by your programs, i.e...COMET, CSDP, CMDP, and CLRT-X. The rest you will be mandated by Brigade or Battalion. So check with S-1 thru S-6 of your respected chain of command to see what they are requiring your unit to have on additional duties.

1SG (Join to see), I would start with S-1, when I was with the CAV our CSM had S-1 to scrub the list when it came to the COMMAND AND STAFF SLIDES at the Battalion level for additional duties. If you go to https://login.milsuite.mil/?goto=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.milsuite.mil%3A443%2F and login with your CAC card it will jumpstart you in the right azimuth.

Great question. Top always had a binder that was 2 pages long with blanks where the open position member was supposed to sign. I never asked about it. I figured it was in the next NCOES course. I was always mega-busy trying to keep my own head above water at my level. I always got tagged for EO, safety, everything hazmat, and that kept me in his good graces.
