I am currently active duty Army, but was previously active duty Marines. I dropped off all my COAs and commendations and basically everything I had from before at S1. I followed up with them a couple times and the NCOIC of the shop concerned with me over the phone that everything was uploaded and should reflect on my SRB in a few days. So far the only thing that has shown up is a JSCM. I did not have this award before and I am wondering if this is a mistake or if this is something other prior service members have received.

It's definitely a mistake. Go back and follow up with them

Absolutely. I still have all the originals. I made copies and left them with S1.

Yeah I thought it seemed a little off. It’s just been hard to get straight answers being prior service of another branch.

SGT (Join to see) - I've heard that from other folks as well. One guy couldn't get his jacket straight because the Army assumed the Marines had entered an award correctly. He chose to not wear it since he knew it wasn't earned but the Army still recognized it as if he had. Worst case you'll be in the same boat. Best of luck.

Makes sense. Not a lot of common knowledge on the prior service stuff. Seems like kind of a gray area. TSgt David L.
