So my re-up window will open while I am downrange and this is the first time I can actually try and request a school or duty station assignment. Any ideas out there? I am contemplating Airborne, but I figure that could be attained without using my re-up to get it.

“AR 601-210 4-24. Prior Service Applicants
If an applicant received a RE-4 from the U.S. Army or a RE-4 or equivalent from another service, applicant is ineligible to enter the ARNG (waivers are not authorized). If an applicant received an RE-4 or its equivalent from another service that would have been ruled an RE-3 by the U.S. Army, treat the code as an RE-3. Note: A suitability review may be submitted to allow the RE code to be treated as an RE-3.”

SSG, I noticed on your profile that you eventually plan on going through SFAS. Prior to SOPC all 18Xs are required to complete Airborne after they graduate from infantry OSUT. Is that a viable option for you?

SSG I'm not sure if your MOS is in need but all soldiers attached to the support battalion in the 173rd are required to be airborne qualified.

I have volunteered for Airborne multiple times, but me being locked in for deployment nixed that. I am all for Airborne, but I believe I could best benefit from that option by doing an Airborne en route to an ABN assignment.
