Can I get my orders changed to stay with a unit that is deploying?

I recently re-enlisted for fort benning in August and today got word my current unit is deploying in October 2019. I am scheduled to report to benning in April 2019. Is there anything I can do to get in this deployment?

SPC (Join to see) when is your unit going to be fenced? Usually 90-120 days out from deploying a unit is fenced for outbounds, allowing only inbounds to fill shortages. I would go to your chain of command and make your preference known and have them work with the retention folks to see if that is changeable. Understand you'll essentially forfeit anything you got in the deal.

Thank you sir. Thankfully I did not get a bonus or anything just choice of duty station. I’m okay with forfeiting that. I voiced my opinion to my chain of command but they continue to tell me that it will be best for my career to go to Benning. Which may be the case but I want to deploy with this unit that I’ve been with for so long and have met amazing soldiers with. LTC Jason Mackay
