We had a discussion about this yesterday. Are Foreign Awards authorized according to AR 600-8-22 Appendix D with now states:
Appendix D (Updated as of 1 June 2014)
Foreign Decorations
Note:
Unless otherwise specified, foreign awards and decorations may only be honorary accepted and retained. In accordance with Title 5 United States Code, Section 7342, all foreign awards and decorations must be in recognition of active combat service or for outstanding or unusually meritorious performance. Activities normally undertaken in support of an ally during peacetime are not considered sufficient to merit foreign individual or unit decorations.
**ATTENTION**
ALL FOREIGN AWARDS IN APPENDIX D ARE UNDER FURTHER REVIEW. ANY FOREIGN AWARD REQUIRING AN IMMEDIATE DECISION SHOULD BE SENT TO THE AWARDS AND DECORATIONS BRANCH FOR ADJUDICATION.
Are foreign awards authorized? Any clarification?

Stuff like this peeves me to no end, having earned two foreign awards, and have gone through the process of having orders issued, does that now mean all those orders are rescinded? The Army really needs to come to grips with things, we just basically shot what every one did during the cold war to hell in a hand basket and said your work doesn't count.
